Thursday April 29th - Bateau Plan B

After two very busy days, it felt good to sleep in. David and Davey spent the afternoon in the park and Connie and I did our part to help the local economy. I really enjoy negotiating .. or if you wish, haggling. It was fun to haggle with the souvenir vendors. They seemed to enjoy the exchange as well and by the time we left one shop, they loaded us up with parting gifts. Merci Monsoir.

In the evenng, we planned to take a boat cruise. The air started to feel cooler and damp as we headed to the Bateaux (Seine river boat) area at Pont d'Alma (near the Eiffel Tower). There were so many buses in the parking lot. By the time we made our way through the groups and up to the ticket window, we discovered that the next boat was sold out and it would be another 45 minutes before we could board for a one hour tour. We decided to pursue plan B.

Walking along the waterfront we surveyed our options and decided to have a glass of wine (apple juice for Davey) at the permanently docked boat that houses a snack area and formal restaurant. We found great seating outside on the boat deck and watched boats go by on the seine and the sun setting over the Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. All of the majic without the wait. Voila! On our way back to the apartment, we stopped by a carousel and walked through the Champ du Mars. Plan B was pretty darn good.
